It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
